Here is what you should remember:

 

1. To ask about someone's personality:

NB: We don't use 'like' in the answer.

 

TO BE LIKE
What is she / he / it like ? She's friendly.
What are you / we / they like ? He's moody.
What am I like ? They're very sad.

 

2. To ask about someone's physical appearance:

NB: We don't use 'like' in the answer.

 

TO LOOK LIKE
She's tall and good looking.
What does he / she / it look like ? He's got blue eyes.
What do I / you / we / they look like ? They're both blonde.

 

3. To ask about someone's hobbies:

NB: You can use 'like' in the answer.

 

TO LIKE DOING
What do I like doing ? I like sports.
What does he / she / it like doing ? He's into computers.
What do you / we / they like doing ? They love sailing and skiing.

 

4. To ask about someone's preferences:

NB: You can use 'would like' in the answer.

 

WOULD LIKE TO
What would I like to do ? I would like to travel more.
What would he / she / it like to do ? She would like to buy a house.
What would we / you / they like to do ? They would like to live in the UK.

 

5.  To ask about the weather:

NB: You can't use 'like' in the answer.

 

WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE ?
What is the weather like ? It's raining cats and dogs!
What was the weather like ? The weather was fine.
